So much has changed since I founded Bethany’s Gait eight years ago.
God put it on my heart to create a place where foster children and rescue horses could heal together through the unconditional love and understanding the two could share. What began as a mentor program for foster children grew to include at-risk children and hurting adults. In 2010 we added programs specific to military and their families. We quickly grew to serving about 100 clients each month.
If anyone had told me back in 2006 that I would move the program to Arizona and serve only military I would have told them they were crazy. But here I am today. When people ask me how the ranch came to what it is today, I simply tell them I was being a faithful Christian servant. When we first began, my boys were 11 and 16; I had a real sense of the needs of kids. Today they are 19 and 24 and I’m proud to say my oldest is serving in the Marine Corps as an aviator. And, my youngest is considering becoming a Navy Seal. With my husband having served 24 years as a Marine, we are truly a military family. It’s absolutely where my heart is!
I’m reminded of Proverbs 27:19 which says “As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.”
That couldn’t be closer to the truth when it comes to me and where Bethany’s Gait Ranch stands today!
